Kolibri Kapital AS is a Norwegian investment company which provide the poor in development countries the opportunity to realize their dreams and build better lives for themselves and their families.

Help to self-help

More than ¼ of the world’s population has no access to conventional banking system. Services as Norwegian takes for granted are not in their reach; payment services for electricity- and water bills; saving accounts; insurance; and the possibility to borrow money to finance small businesses, school and housing.

Microfinance institutions are developed and established to serve the poor and their needs where normal banks are not available, this on the poor’s terms and with reasonable and sustainable interest.

Kolibri is financing well developed microfinance institutions in Latin-America, Asia and Africa, and is therefore contributing and helping more poor people getting the chance to build themselves a better life.

Kolibri Kapital was founded June 2000 and is currently funded by over 400 private individuals and organisations that have invested shares in the company. At the end of 2016, the company had an equity of NOK 30 million, which the company is lending out to microfinance institutions.
